I think I am a weird person. When my friends are stressed, i will try my best to stay calm cause i dun want to add to the chaos and will want to help and motivate my friends. When my friends are calm and steady, i will panic cause I will feel we should do this and do that. Many times I make trouble or mistakes, then in the end i ask myself why like that ...

My pre reg project is driving me crazy already ....

Tell me how!

  1. same here... in some situations i think playing the devil's advocate or introducing some other variables(like panic n picky) in a group setting is important.

it's a good thing as it helps break the group think attitude (people all agreeing with one another and shunning other possibilities). But of course it can be perceived as very anti-group behavior that some might consider it a nuisance. It sometimes feels upsetting because it's hard being out of phase with the others as it takes extra effort to convince the group of your thoughts.

Anyway i think being the flexible one to stay calm in turbulent times and picky in calm times is very valuable to any group and should be considered a good trait. Like some sort of buffer.

Prolly wanna think about how you could maximise this trait, i.e adjusting the right dose of skepticism to not affect creativity and thoughts while still remaining objectivity and thinking critically, could allow you to make the most valuable contributions to a team.

  2. I think sometimes I am like a nuisance ... Getting tired of being the opposite one ... I come to think that we tend to expect our team mates to think and work towards the goal that we want, but diff people have different expectations after all. It is not fair to expect them to do what we feel is correct only. Letting go is perhaps easier for us and them.

  3. yeah i get what you mean by that. It's just that getting into trouble or those "i told you so" situations can be really irritating.

But sometimes it does appear to be unwarranted attention to details, either way will have to suck thumb when no one listens and agree to disagree. It'll end up as a learning process, hopefully you'll have teammates who at least appreciate your thoroughness and effort.
